Butterfly Lantern Card – Day 8 of 12 Days of DIY Gift Ideas

30 Nov

Hello and welcome to Day 8 of my 12 Days of DIY Gift Ideas! I love having you here to prepare for the holidays with me. Today’s gift idea is a simple yet beautiful and elegant DIY gift your recipient can use and admire all year round. It is a butterfly lantern card, which is basically just a card with a vellum window in the front. When a battery operated tealight is placed underneath, it turns into a lantern! I can’t wait to share with you the details on how to make it. Let’s get started!

This gorgeous lantern card is easy to create, and makes a lovely gift which the recipient can display in their home all year long!

How to Make the Butterfly Lantern Card

Materials:

  • 4 1/4″ x 11″ Magenta Madness cardstock, scored at 5 1/2″
  • 2 3/4″ x 3 7/8″ vellum
  • Gold Foil and Flowers For Every Season papers
  • Stitched So Sweetly and Butterfly Beauty dies
  • Glue Dots and Multipurpose Glue

First, cut a window in the front of the card base using the Stitched So Sweetly dies. Attach vellum to the card base frame using glue dots. Attach gold frame to vellum piece, again using glue dots. Add the butterfly die cut, sentiment, and pearls.
