Hello and welcome to today’s One Stamp At A Time Blog Hop. Our projects today will highlight reasons to celebrate! Right now we can use some ‘happy’ in our lives, and it will be a fun day to see what our crafters have created. I will be sharing a lovely butterfly gift idea and card with you that I made to celebrate a graduate. Come take a look!
Below you can see my creations! I decided to create a wall hanging with an encouragement theme in mind. I thought this would be perfect to display in a college dorm or work space when someone is starting a new stage in life. The ‘Let your dreams soar’ sentiment is from our Above the Clouds stamp set, and ‘You will do amazing things’ on the card is from Everything Amazing. I paired these nice words with die cuts from the Butterfly Beauty and Flourish sets.
I used two different watercoloring techniques to make the background and butterflies and added splattered shimmer paint, which is hard to see in these photos. I discovered a handy trick for cutting foil paper with dies, and shared some more tips and tricks in this video I put together.
Let’s take a closer look at each project. Below you can see the card. I really wanted the projects to have a collage-y, mixed media, textures+textures+textures feel. I did this by starting with the watercolor background, adding texture stamps from the Gallery Grunge set on top, adding several layers of dies cuts (some with sponging and some with watercoloring), plus metallics, twine, and pearls.
I will admit, this took a little bit of time to create – probably two hours – but oh I love the result. Wall hangings such as these would make wonderful gifts for many occasions like weddings, anniversaries, Mother’s or Father’s Day, birthdays, or any occasion when you want something personal and heartfelt for the recipient.
I hope you are staying in and staying safe in these history-making times. I also hope you’re finding more time to spend in your craft area! I’ve used this time to kick my online Stampin Up business up a notch. I’m creating a project video every day in my Facebook Group, which I later upload to my YouTube channel. I’m also super excited to be offering virtual classes where I mail out materials ahead of time, then we get together online (where we can see and talk to each other!) to create the projects! Please take a look at these things if you’re interested!
Thanks for stopping in! I hope you enjoyed my card and butterfly gift idea. Make sure to continue your way through the hop to see the rest of the amazing projects!
