Amazing DIY Advent Calendar Kit!

I have a project to share with you today that’s a little bit different than usual, and I’m going to say that’s a good thing! It’s nice to switch things up sometimes! In each of our catalog releases, Stampin Up comes out with several different project kits. Usually we have kits to make cards in addition to a kit for another type of project, especially when the holidays roll around. Kits are so nice for beginning crafters, or anyone wanting to complete a neat project with minimal time and supplies. This year we have a Christmas tag kit, which is all-inlusive, meaning you don’t need anything else to complete the tags besides what’s included in the kit, AND this adorable kit I’m sharing with you today. It’s called the Christmas Countdown Project Kit, and it’s a DIY Advent calendar kit!

Let’s take a look at the completed kit. This was so easy to put together and I love the finished look!

DIY Advent Calendar Kit

The kit comes with the large box and 25 smaller boxes pre-assembled. It’s nice and sturdy and should hold up for a long time. In addition, you get 28 pre-punched papers to cover the fronts of the boxes, assorted stickers for decorations, and the number circles for the box fronts.

What else will you need to assemble the kit? It depends on if you want to stick to the basics or get a little bit crafty with it. At minimum, you’ll want some Snail adhesive to attach the papers to the boxes as well as some Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the number circles.

If you want to get a bit crafty, you can use the Christmas Countdown stamp set and some ink to add more decoration to the box fronts like I did. If you want to see the stamped vs. unstamped box fronts, visit my Facebook group and check out the video I made.

Do you need some ideas for what to put in your advent calendar kit? Here are some ideas:

Candy
Small toys
Ornaments or other small gifts
A Bible scripture for each day
Divide the Christmas story into 25 parts, and place one portion in each box
MY FAVORITE – Include slips of paper with something to do each day of December written on them. Ideas include: Make Christmas cookies, donate food to a local food pantry, make a Christmas craft, read a Christmas book, make hot chocolate and watch a Christmas movie, wrap presents, etc. You don’t want to overwhelm yourself during a busy time of year, so plan accordingly and don’t include so many things you can’t keep up! A Pinterest search for ‘Advent Calendar Activities’ will give you tons of ideas!

Here are a few more pretty neat ideas. First, these boxes can be turned around and inserted the opposite direction, meaning you can decorate the other side for another occasion! I want to make a gratitude calendar for November! Another idea is to store jewelry in this box, or use it to organize other small items, which I think is genius!
