Watercolor Rose Wonder Card

29 Dec

Have you seen the new Rose Wonder stamp set and Rose Garden dies yet? If you’re one of the lucky ones who  received a copy of the new Occasions Catalog, then you probably have seen them. If not, and if you would like to see a catalog, please let me know and I’ll get one to you.

So the Rose Wonder stamp set and Rose Garden dies…I’ll be honest, when I saw them they were not my immediate favorites. It’s just natural that not all styles fit all people, and these just aren’t my natural style. However, I ordered them anyway because I knew I would be able to make neat things with them. Here’s my first test.

Watercolor Rose Wonder Card Stampin' Up!

I made this card for a Splitcoaststampers challenge. I used this card as my inspiration, so I was attempting to make it similar but make it my own at the same time. I was really happy with the results! To make my card, I first watercolored the background using watercolor paper. After it was dry I embossed it using the Softly Falling embossing folder. I had never embossed watercolor paper before but I thought it turned out really neat! Then I used the Rose Garden thinlits dies and cut out the rose using gold glimmer paper. I embossed the greeting on vellum and cut it out using the dies as well.

I’m curious to find out what you think about this. Do you like it, hate it, not sure? Comment below and let me know, I would love to hear.

What a lovely card, Anna! Thank you for explaining how you used watercolor paper first and then embossed it. I’m eager to try this now.

Thanks! I had never thought of embossing the watercolor paper, but I wanted some sort of pattern over top, kind of like the card that was my inspiration. Embossing was my simple solution. Good luck!
