Stampin’ Up! Opulent Oasis & Sponge Daubers!

21 May

Let’s do some crafting, and look at a simple way to step up your cards. Today’s technique is a wonderful way to wow the people to whom you send your cards. We are using the new Stampin’ Up! Opulent Oasis bundle, and one little tool – sponge daubers. Let’s get started!

Video Tutorial

Watch along here and make sure to comment on YouTube to get entered to win my weekly giveaway!

Stampin’ Up! Opulent Oasis

This is the stamp and die set I featured on today’s cards. This set includes a special kind of die created to use with our new Impressions Plate. The Impressions Plate allows you to both die cut and emboss paper by running it through your machine two separate times. If you spritz the paper before you emboss it, it creates an even more impressive emboss. We’ll look at some close up photos of the results in a moment.

WOW your cards with this easy trick for inking your stamps! Cards feature the Stampin Up Opulent Oasis stamp and die set.

If you’re interested in details for how to use the Opulent Oasis bundle to cut and emboss, I’ll share details below.

Wow Your Cards With Sponge Daubers

Let’s look at two ways to use Sponge Daubers on your cards.

Inking A Stamp

Here you can see a card I created by inking my stamp the traditional way with an ink pad. I used Crisp Cantaloupe ink for the flowers.

I created the same card again, but I added several colors of ink to the stamp with sponge daubers. Doesn’t this make a huge difference? I inked the stamps with Crisp Cantaloupe just like I did with the first card, but then I added Calypso Coral and Melon Mambo inks with daubers.

Here you can see the two cards side-by-side.

Let’s look at another way to use sponge daubers.

Blending Over Embossing

Here you can see a card I created with plain white for this beautiful embossed flower. This is the lovely result you can create with the new type of dies that also emboss using the Impressions Plate.

I created a similar card, but added ink over the top of the embossing using my sponge daubers. The colors I used are Hydrangea Hue, Blueberry Bushel, and Perfect Pine. Isn’t this lovely?

Here are the two side-by-side.

Below I’ll share the details for exactly how to use the specialty dies.

How To Cut And Emboss With This Die Set

The Stampin’ Up! Impressions Plate includes instructions for how to use these dies. It is recommended to do your die cutting first using the same process you use for any of your dies.
The next step is to use plate one, plate two, the flower die with the cutting side up, paper (spritzed with water for a better result), Impressions Plate, and plate four. Crank this through and be amazed at the results!

New In Colors

I should mention that I’m highlighting our new colors today! They include Crisp Cantaloupe, Peaceful Pine, Hydrangea Hue, Golden Glow, and Barely Blush. They come in amazing new magnetic ink pads, which all of our colors will transition to in another year. Watch along with the video to see them!

I definitely am partial to blue, so I would say Hydrangea Blue is my favorite color. I like the technique that you used and will try that with flower stamps that I already have. Thanks for sharing.

It’s a toss up for me between Hydrangea Hue and Peaceful Pine.
