Stampin Up Little Monkey & 2 Spinner Card Ideas

25 May

Hi friends! Cards with moving parts are so much fun, and today I’m sharing two ideas for interactive spinner cards. I’m using quite possibly my favorite new bundle in our new catalog. It’s called Stampin Up Little Monkey and it is sooooo adorable. I knew it would be perfect for these spinner cards. Let’s take a look at them!

I’ll share photos below, but you’re definitely going to want to watch today’s video to see how these cards are put together and how they move and spin!

Here you can see the cute bundle I used on today’s cards! It’s perfect for kids, babies, friends, and all who are young at heart!

Next I’ll share a bit about mirror stamping, which is an important technique needed for today’s cards!

Mirror Stamping

Mirror stamping is needed to create today’s cards. Mirror stamping, or reverse stamping, allows you to get an image facing the opposite direction as the stamp itself, and we need this to have an image to mount to the back side of our spinning punch or die cut. Learn more about mirror stamping here.

Interactive Spinner Cards

Here you can see my basic spinner card idea. Isn’t this cute? See how the monkey is attached to a string? The idea is that before you put the card in the envelope, you spin it around several times, and then when it’s removed from the envelope and opened, it whirls and spins around!

Next I have a stepped up version of a spinner card, made in combination with a fun fold! Here is the outside of the card…

…and below you can see the inside! To make this you’ll need two pieces of 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ cardstock. Score one in the center at 4 1/4″ and score the other one at 2 1/8″, 4 1/4″, and 6 3/8″. For the one with three score lines, you’ll need to die cut a basic shape out of the center. The attach the monkey on the string to the back side, and attach it inside the outer card base.

Like I said, you’ll definitely want to watch along with my video tutorial to see how these cards spin and also see how I assembled them. Here it is!
