I love the gesture of giving someone a card. It can be something tailored to that person’s interests to let them know you made it especially for them. It can be out of the blue to brighten their day. It can be during a time of hardship to let them know you care. It can be for millions of different reasons, but the point is the same – you have taken time out of your day to show you care. Last week I gave one of my handmade cards to someone I met recently who unfortunately suffered a miscarriage shortly after we met. I ran into her a few days ago, and she told me how much the card meant to her, let’s call her Sara, and her husband, who I called ‘Mr. Sara’ on the card, because I had no idea what his name was! She said it was just perfect, and that it made them smile. I could tell when she was telling me this that it’s been hard for them to smile lately. A few minutes of my time, some love put into a card, and a handwritten message lightened their load for a short while. That makes it worth it. That’s why I do this. I do it for a lot of reasons, but being able to show others I care about them through my creativity is a major reason. And helping you all do the same, to share the love with your friends and family, is another major reason! It’s a ripple effect, one that honestly changes the world one small gesture at a time. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside thinking about it!! Ok, ok…now that I’ve gotten that out of my system, let’s take a look at some card ideas for today that highlight our new 2019-2020 Stampin’ Up! In Colors!
I love when Stampin’ Up! introduces our new In Colors each year. It’s a new palette to play with! As much as I love them though, it usually takes me some time before I start reaching for them as often as I do my ‘old favorites.’ Once I’ve used them a few times however, I usually love them and start using them all the time! And I will says this – 4 out of these 5 colors are already on my ‘will use often’ list!
Today’s cards feature our five new 2019-2021 Stampin’ Up! In Colors, including Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile, Pretty Peacock, Seaside Spray, and Purple Posy. In addition to using these colors of cardstock and ink, I used the Woven Threads designer paper pack which uses a combination of the new In Colors in the designs.
I made these cards for my new catalog kickoff night to highlight the new In Colors. I put them together very quickly by cutting various sizes and shapes of the Woven Threads paper, then layering them in a way that looked nice. I stamped greetings from the Above the Clouds stamp set (which I featured a few days ago in this post) punched them out with a circle punch, then placed them on top of two Perennial Flower Punches and a larger silver glimmer paper circle. I had these five cards done in about 15 minutes!
If you look closely, you can see some faceted gem embellishments on these cards. They come in the new In Colors, to adorn your In Color projects!
