ICS Blog Hop Giving Thanks

Hi everyone! I’m glad you’re joining in with our Inspire Create Share Giving Thanks Blog Hop! Halloween is over, so we can officially start celebrating a month of Thankfulness before Christmas takes over!

I immediately knew I wanted to do something different than a card when I saw this month’s theme. I wanted to do something I could display in my home. A Thankful Tree was my first thought, but I wanted it to be something different from a tree. I did a little Pinterest searching (one of my favorite pasttimes) and found this which was my inspiration. Here is my take on it.

I just happened to have this cute tobacco lath and chicken wire frame hanging in my house with nothing on it. I have been planning on putting pictures on it for months now, and it still hasn’t happened. I guess it was just waiting to be turned into a Thankful Frame! If you like the idea of creating something like this but you don’t have a frame like mine, check out the one in the link above. It would be really easy to take a frame you already have or a cheapie from a thrift store and add baker’s twine to it to hang your leaves.

I made the ‘Give Thanks’ banner using our burlap ribbon and I cut out leaves from gold foil and gold glimmer paper. I cut out the letters using the Little Letters dies as well as a small gold banner to put behind each letter using the Bitty Banners dies. I also added some gold thread and punched a scallop circle from the Winter Wonderland designer vellum using the 7/8″ scallop circle punch.

As for the rest of the leaves on the frame, I wanted there to be a lot of texture and variety. I cut a few leaves out of our corrugated paper,

a few more out of gold foil sheets, and some colorful ones that I stamped and sponged.

For the colorful leaves, these are the colors I used to stamp and sponge onto very vanilla cardstock.

After the leaves were stamped and cut out, I used the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to go over a few of the leaf veins before sprinkling gold glitter over top. Aren’t they pretty?

The fourth type of leaves are the most important! They’re my ‘thankful leaves.’ I cut them out of kraft cardstock, wrote on them using my Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Write Marker, stamped some distress dots using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and Sahara Sand ink, crumped them up, uncrumpled them, and sponged Soft Suede lightly over top. I attached leaves to the frame using our wooden clothespins that I sponged with Soft Suede ink as well as gold clothespins from the Mini Metallic Clothespins pack.

Here are some of my daughter’s thankful items – Grandmas, Grandpas and Mi Mi (our kitty).

Speaking of my daughter, she is the number one thing I’m thankful for and I just have to share her Halloween picture! We had so much fun Trick-or-Treating and she got 2nd in our town’s costume contest!
