I’m so glad you’re here today because I have one of my very favorite tips to share with you. I call it my no fail bow tying tip for beginners. Why do I call it this? Because I’ve shared this with many beginning crafters and had great success with them tying beautiful bows on their very first try! Let me share it with you!
Bow Tying Tip For Beginners Video
The easiest way to learn this trick is by watching along as I share it with you. Grab some twine or ribbon so you can try it as you watch!
What You’ll Need
The amount of ribbon you’ll need depends on how thick it is. If you’re using twine, you can use about 10-12″, while if you’re using thicker ribbon like I did, you’ll need more like 15-18″. The wider your ribbon, the longer it needs to be.
Bow Tying Tip Steps
I really encourage you to watch along with the video, but I’ll attempt to explain how this tip works below.
1. Make a loop in your right hand and one in your left hand. Pinch each loop between your thumb and index finger.
2. Just like you would cross your shoe strings when you begin tying them, you need to cross the two loops. Take the one through the bottom loop, and then pull tight!
3. As you’re pulling it tight you’ll need to do some ‘fidgeting’ to get the ribbons straight and get the loops the correct length.
I recommend starting with twine because it’s a bit easier than using ribbon. That’s it – so easy!
