Does anyone else enjoy finding new ways to stamp an image in multiple colors? I’ll raise my hand to that! If you don’t know what ombre means, that’s okay. I’ll share a little bit of background on ombre as well as how to achieve this ombre stamping technique using the Stamparatus. I made the birthday card below for my dad using this technique. It has a masculine feel while still looking beautiful! Let’s get started!
What is Ombre
Ombre is a pattern of colors that fade into one another. You can see the ombre effect in my card above as the light tones gradually turn to dark.

Materials
- Stamparatus
- Buffalo Check Stamp Set
- Ink (Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, Early Espresso)
- White Cardstock measure a little larger than 2 3/4″ x 8 1/2″
- Sponge
- Card Base
- In Good Taste Designer Paper
- Greeting of Your Choice
How to Ombre Stamp with the Stamparatus
First, center cardstock and stamp on the Stamparatus. Tape down cardstock so it doesn’t move around.
Next, start with the lightest color of ink. In this project, I started with Sahara Sand. Ink the entire stamp and rotate the plate to stamp the image onto your cardstock.
The second ink color is Crumb Cake. Ink the bottom 3/4 of the stamp, but do not apply ink at the top. With a sponge, dab some color off of the transition area to help it blend better.
Press onto cardstock to stamp.
The third ink color is Soft Suede. Stamp approximately half way up the stamp, starting at the bottom. Sponge the transition area. Rotate to press onto cardstock.
The fourth ink color is Early Espresso. Ink only the bottom portion of the stamp, again using a sponge on transition area to soften the color. Press onto cardstock.
Remove cardstock piece and trim off the edges. Attach to card base and add stamped greeting of your choice!
You can see the ombre stamping effect allows a beautiful transition from light to dark colors. This is such a fun and unique technique to add to any card or project!
