ICS Blog Hop The Season of Gratitude

2 Nov

Welcome to this month’s Inspire, Create, & Share Blog Hop! I can’t believe another month has passed and November is here! This month, we have a unique theme. We decided to use our October 2016 Paper Pumpkin kits, called Season of Gratitude, to create alternative project ideas. If you’re not sure what Paper Pumpkin is, keep reading for more explanation.

ICS Blog Hop

Paper Pumpkin is a fantastic, all-inclusive craft kit that comes in the mail once a month, delivered right to your doorstep. It was named Paper Pumpkin because it can sweep you away into a crafting fantasyland, for a nice release from your everyday life! Its a great way to get your crafting fix without having to drag out supplies, make a huge mess, or spend a ton of time or money. Stamps, ink, and all other supplies you need are included for just $19.95, including shipping! It’s a great deal.

This month we decided to come up with unique projects all made from last month’s Paper Pumpkin kit. When I first saw the kit, which was intended to make shaker cards, I had no idea what I was going to make. Then it hit me like a bolt of lightnight – a banner. It seemed like the perfect idea. Later I started wondering how many others would come up with the same idea, but that’s neither here nor there. Here’s the banner I created.

I LOVE the way it turned out. It’s just what my kitchen needed for decoration this month.

I only made a few modifications to the instructions that came in the kit to make shaker cards. First, I cut the card bases in half to make the Crumb Cake background for each banner piece. Then, I marked 1/2″ up from the bottom in the center of each piece, and cut from the bottom corners up to that point. That created the notches on the bottom.

Another change I made was gluing the sequins in place, rather than leaving them loose.

I used the Letters For You stamp set and coordinating framelits to stamp the letters and cut them out. After attaching the letters, I punched the holes in the corners of each banner piece and tied them together with 5/8″ burlap ribbon.

I think it fits in perfectly in my kitchen. In case you’re wondering, yes, this is my kitchen. This room was the entire house when it was built in the early 1800’s. I love old things, so of course I love it. I think the banner looks great on the wall, and the sequins add an appropriate amount of bling.
