Chevron Card Design & Paper Folding Technique

24 Mar

Hi there! Have you ever tried adding a chevron pattern to any of your card designs? A while back I received a card in the mail and I fell in love with the design on the front. I thought it was so neat that I wanted to try my hand at making a card using the same folded pattern. I tried this out myself, and now I’m excited to share this idea with you!  Keep reading and I’ll share a video and easy instructions on how you can make these cards yourself. Take a look!

Chevron Card Design Video

Below is a video I created with instructions on how to make a fun Chevron pattern for card designs. Please click on the video to follow along.

 Chevron Card Materials & Instructions

Let’s start with a little preparation. The list below gives details on materials you can prepare for this project.

Measurements

  • 5 – 1″ x 2 1/2″ Designer Series Paper (I suggest using a pattern with small print that is non-directional)
  • 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ Cardstock or Designer Series Paper
  • 4″ x 5 1/4″ Cardstock
  • 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ Cardstock

For today’s project, I used Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper. This project focuses on folding the ends of the designer series paper strips. If you would like to see exactly how I folded mine, check out my video.

Here are some other projects I created using the chevron design.

Other Chevron Projects

For this card below, I used the Bloom & Grow stamp set as well as Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper.

Once you do the folding for this card once or twice, you’ll find it’s a really easy process that doesn’t take much effort, but adds a lot of detail. Enjoy!
