Stamps A MESS When You Open The Case? Do THIS!

17 Feb

A while back, Stampin Up changed our stamp packaging for photopolymer (clear) stamps. It has been a good change in some ways and bad in others. I have discovered a few ways to improve on the change, and I want to share them with you today.

Stamps A Mess When You Open The Case? Do This!

Watch along here as I talk about the stamp packaging and what you can do to keep the stamps stuck to the case!

Our New Packaging & What I’ve Learned

My first frustration with the new packaging was not being able to see through the back of the case. You can see this with the stamp set on the right side in the photo below.

I look through the back of the case all the time to be able to see how large each stamp is. This is very important for me in planning my projects, so my first discovery was that I could cut the stamp case label and slide it into the left side so that I can still see through the back of my stamp cases.

Then I mounted the stamps to the inside of the case over top of the printed label sheet, and I loved the new packaging.

I could remove the stamps quickly to use them and I could still see through the back of the case. Woohoo!

However, I soon learned that if I place the stamps on the inside of the case, they don’t always stay stuck and sometimes when I open a case they are a MESS. This does not happen with most of my stamps, but it does happen with a few, and it’s really frustrating!

This Biggest Wish stamp set shown below has been the worst. I love the stamps and use them all the time to make neat projects, but I had to come up with a solution to the messy stamp situation.

Fix The Problem!

Using this handy trick, you can keep those stamps attached to the case, still see through the back of the case, AND be able to remove the stamps quickly when you want to use them. Here’s how…

First, cut and move the stamp case label to the left side as described here.

Second, remove the light weight plastic sheet from the top of the stamps.

Place some Seal+ or other strong adhesive on the corners, along edges and in the center (too much is better than not enough), then attach it to the inside of the stamp case over top of the printed pictures. You can’t see it in the photo below, but it’s there. Then, move your stamps and adhere them over top of their appropriate image.

The stamps stick really well to this sheet, but not as well to the case itself. Now you can mount the stamps to this plastic sheet and they’ll stay stuck!!

I have found that when they won’t stick, they are dirty. if I wash the back real good and let them air dry, they regain their stickyness
