Rubber Band Trick For Card Backgrounds

This technique is simple – just place several rubber bands around a clear acrylic block. You can align them straight or criss-crossing, however you prefer. Place the cardstock you intend to stamp onto on a Stampin Pierce Mat, because you’ll need some cushion for the rubber bands to stamp properly. Next, ink the rubber bands on an ink pad and stamp them as desired onto the cardstock. 

One suggestion is to make sure no more than two rubber bands overlap in any single spot. If they do, it will make it too thick and the other areas won’t stamp properly. 

To clean the rubber bands, you can use a shammy or Stampin Scrub, or just run the block under a faucet. Make sure to clean them thoroughly between colors of ink. 

Card Samples

Let’s take a look at the cards I created. Card #1 is simple…just black and white. 

Card #2 uses Daffodil Delight cardstock, and I stamped it using Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, and Poppy Parade inks. 

My third card uses Lemon Lime Twist cardstock with Granny Apple Green and Pretty Peacock inks. 

Card #4 uses Azure Afternoon cardstock with the same color of ink. 

I stamped the greeting with Memento black ink and used Blends alcohol markers to add color. I just love how this one turned out! 

Featured Stamps

I used the Happy Place stamp set to complete these cards. I think these stamps are really neat!
