How To Make Paper Tabs for Your Card Projects

18 Dec

Hey friends, I love a good tab in my life. Do you? If you’re a little confused right now, that’s ok, just keep reading. Tabs are so fun. We’re familiar with tabs on folders and using them for organization, but today I’ll share how to use them on card projects too. If you’re interested in reading along to create tabs for home organization projects, keep reading because you can use these tricks to make tabs for anything!

Click to see how to make paper tabs for your card making and paper projects, home organization, and more. I'll share how to create them by hand or also using the Keeping Tabs punch.

How To Make Paper Tabs Video

Watch along here to see how to cut and make tabs by hand or with a handy paper punch!

How To Make Paper Tabs By Hand

To create the tabs shown below, I cut paper measuring 2″ x 1 5/8″, then I folded it in half at the 1″ mark. I created several more decorative options than the one with square edges. To get you thinking, you could cut angled corners, use a corner rounder on the edges, or even punch a hole and insert ribbon through it!

You might want to make bigger or smaller tabs depending on the project you’re working on.

How To Make Paper Tabs With A Punch

The Keeping Tabs punch makes it super simple to create cute tabs for your paper and organization projects! Just punch through paper, then fold it in half to create your tab!

Paper Tabs Bundle & Cards

I wanted to share several card ideas using paper tabs, so take a look. The one below was really simple to create. I just cut 1″ off of the front of the card, added a tab, and decorated it with the Turtle-y Cute designer paper.

If one tab is fun, three tabs makes lots of fun! For this card, I created several flaps and added one tab to each one. What a fun gift for the recipient that gives several surprises!

I used the Paper Tags bundle to decorate the multi-flap card. It has coordinating dies that I used on each flap of the card. This stamp set is retiring and only available while supplies last!

I want you to know how much I appreciate being on your email list. I make note cards for the joy and as a stress reliever. I so love all of your tips. My husband is chronically ill and my card making has slowed down. So, I also want you to know how grateful I am for your informative and uplifting pieces at the end of your posts. May God continue watching over you. Thank you for what you are doing.
