Stampin Up Boardwalk Fun & Silhouette Cards

Today’s cards turned out even prettier than I imagined. That’s what you can do with just a few bright, bold colors and some black ink to create silhouettes over the top. I used several different techniques to create lovely backgrounds, then I used the Stampin Up Boardwalk Fun set to add silhouette stamps and die cuts. Let’s take a look at them!

Stampin Up Boardwalk Fun

Here is the adorable stamp and die set I used to create these cards. It’s so cheerful and fun!

Background Techniques

Let’s take a look at the cards I created. For each group, I’ll explain the background technique I used and also the colors of ink used on each card. 

Designer Papers

These cards were extremely easy to create because I simply stamped black ink over patterned papers from the Beach Boardwalk designer paper pack. 

For the card below, the only stamping I did was the greeting! The palm trees were already printed on the paper.

Ink Dragging

For the next set of cards, I did a background technique called ink dragging. I used an ink pad placed directly against the cardstock to drag ink across the paper, then I repeated this one or two more times with different colors. 

Card 1: Daffodil Delight, Timid Tiger, Strawberry Slush

Card 2: Bubble Bath, Strawberry Slush, Petunia Pop

Card 3: Bubble Bath, Strawberry Slush, Summer Splash

Watercolor

For these cards, I used watercolor paper, ‘painted’ it with plain water, then added several colors of ink and blended them together.

Card 1: Daffodil Delight, Timid Tiger, Petunia Pop

Card 2: Strawberry Slush, Bubble Bath, Summer Splash

Card 3: Timid tiger, Strawberry Slush, Petunia Pop

Card 4: Strawberry Slush, Bubble Bath

Ink Blending

I used blending brushes to add color to the backgrounds of these last few cards. 

Card 1: Daffodil Delight, Timid Tiger, Strawberry Slush

Card 2: Summer Splash, Timid Tiger

Card 3: Bubble Bath, Strawberry Slush, Petunia Pop
