Envelope Decor Hacks For The Most Amazing Coordinating Envelopes!

5 Feb

Hi friends and welcome. You put so much time and love into your handmade cards…don’t they deserve a gorgeous envelope to match? Today I want to share a few ideas for how to decorate envelopes that are as beautiful as your cards. I imagine you’ve stamped on envelopes before, but we can get so much more creative than that! Let’s take a look at some ideas.

Envelope Decor Hacks For Coordinating Envelopes Video

Watch along here for beautiful ideas for your envelopes!

How To Decorate Envelopes

Let’s take a look at a few ideas.

1. Score Envelopes

Have you ever thought about using your scoring tool, or the scoring blade on your Stampin Up trimmer, to score envelopes? Here are a few ideas to get you started, but the sky is the limit with patterns you can score.

2. Emboss Envelopes

Embossing is such a fun way to decorate envelopes! You can emboss just the flap, just the rectangular part without the flap, or the entire thing.

3. Die Cuts

You can use dies to decorate your envelopes in several ways. You can use a border die to cut the edge of your flap to make it extra-special, or use die cuts to decorate the front or back of your envelope. Just make sure they’re attached very well if you plan to send the card in the mail.

4. Stamp Envelopes

Stamping is a great way to decorate your envelopes and help them coordinate with the card inside. You can stamp one or both bottom corners, decorations around the address, the back flap, or other patterns.

The stamp set below inspired today’s ideas, because it is perfect for stamping envelopes. I love how it makes it really easy to decorate the address part of your envelope.

See the circular and rectangular stamp, each with the top right corner open? You can use the balloon, flower, snow, or tree stamps in the set to fill in the open edge, or other stamps from your collection!

I created the five envelopes below using the stamps in the Addressed To You stamp set.

For these, I found a leaf stamp from another set and used it to decorate the address label.

Let’s take a look at some more examples of decorated envelopes.

I made this set of cards shown below recently, which you can learn more about here. I decided to make coordinating envelopes for each of them. Let’s take a look.

When I have raised embellishments that I am concerned about. I turn the card inside out (so embellishment is in the inside), and I put a little note inside saying: “turned inside out for mailing purposes only :)”

For your upcoming video on mailing . . I like making square cards but they require extra postage. When I want to make one w/o extra postage, I make a book binding layout and use the “square” portion for the square design I want to do.
