Spritzing Techniques for Card Making

4 Dec

My daughter was crafting with me recently…making a huge mess as usual, and she begged me to use the things she was creating on some cards. I did a bit of thinking, and dreamed up today’s tutorial to work with her creations. We are going to look at some water spritzing techniques for card making. I know that spritzers can seem intimidating, but they’re really easy to use and create some one-of-a-kind pieces. Let’s look at them.

Watch along here to see these water spritzing techniques in action!

Water Sprizing Techniques

I used several different techniques on today’s cards. Let’s look at each card and I’ll share the techniques used.

This card uses a spritzing technique for applying ink with acrylic blocks. I placed a block against three different ink pads to pick up the colors, then I spritzed the block several times with water. After that, I applied the ink to the paper and let it dry. I think this is a really neat technique for bold backgrounds.

For this card, I created some self-adhesive die cuts, placed them against the paper, and spritzed colored water over the top before removing the die cuts.

The last card uses several spritzing techniques. I applied spritzed colored water over the entire background, then I also did a watercolor stamping effect. I did this by inking the stamp, spritzing it with water, then stamping. It creates a neat watercolor effect.

I did one more spritzing technique, where I filled my spritzer with rubbing alcohol and shimmer paint, then I used it to spritz each of the cards. It adds a beautiful spritz shimmer to them!

I used the Swirled Designs bundle to create the cards shown above. It’s such a fun and bold set and would be great for making cards for young people!

I also used these two huge greeting stamps on today’s cards. I LOVE big greeting stamps.
