How To Use Wink Of Stella Video Tutorial

Watch along here as I share a lot of examples of how I like to use Wink Of Stella, as well as a few creative techniques.

What Is Wink Of Stella?

Wink Of Stella is a small wand brush with glitter paint, that you can apply to any of your projects to add a beautiful shimmer. It is simple to use and adds a special touch quickly and easily.

Below I will share several specific ideas for how to use it.

How To Open And Use Wink Of Stella

I want to mention quickly that when you get one of these for the first time, you will need to unscrew the tip, remove the black ring around the center, and screw the brush tip back on. Next give it a few shakes to mix the paint inside, and squeeze in the center several times until you see the paint coming down into the tip. Do not squeeze too hard or too many times, just squeeze several times and wait to see if the paint starts to move towards the tip. Once the paint is in the brush tip, you’re ready to get started!

Ways To Use Wink Of Stella

Here are several ideas for how to use Wink Of Stella on your projects.

1. Over designer paper

Choose a certain area you want to highlight on a patterned paper and add just a bit of sparkle, or paint the whole thing if you like!

2. Over a stamped image

Again, choose a certain area you want to highlight or add shimmer to the entire image! Keep in mind that some inks can bleed when you apply Wink Of Stella over the top, so keep reading below for details on how to avoid bleeding.

3. Watercolor with it

This might be my favorite way to use Stella. To do this, you’ll need to pick up a small amount of ink with the brush tip and start painting to add color to your project. What’s better than a beautiful watercolor project? One that has shimmer added! Learn more about watercoloring here.

4. Create splatters

Have you ever added splatters to a project with a water painter brush? If so, you can do the same thing with Wink Of Stella! To do this, start by squeezing the pen until you have enough paint in the brush tip that it looks like it might drip. Next, hold your left hand just above your project, and hit the pen against your hand. If you have enough paint in the brush, as you do this, small bits of glitter paint will fall onto your project and create splatters. Watch along with a video to see as I demonstrated how to do this.

What Kind Of Ink Should I Use With Wink Of Stella?

To be sure that your project will not bleed when you apply Wink of Stella, you will want to use Memento Ink to stamp your image. However, I use Wink Of Stella often with my water-based inks. I just keep in mind that there might be a tiny amount of bleeding, but it’s usually not even visible.

What other ways do you like to use Wink Of Stella? Tell me at the bottom!
