Watercolor Card Making Made Easy!

22 May

I’m excited today to share with you several simple card ideas using a wonderful technique. We are looking at watercolor card making and three extremely easy ways to try it. This is a wonderful way to step up your card making, and while it might look like you need artistic ability to do it, you definitely do not. Let’s talk about it!

Watercolor card making doesn't have to be hard or messy...it's beautiful and ANYONE can do it! Click to see three simple ways to get started.

Watercolor card making card tutorial

Watch along here to see exactly how I created these lovely cards! Stick around until the end for a message about how life on the farm can be hard sometimes…though I’m also sharing some funny stories you might enjoy.

Here you can see the beautiful bundle I used to create today’s products.

The embossing folder is especially amazing! The sample below shows the ‘debossed’ side with the design imprinted downwards.

Ok, let’s take a look at my sample cards.

Watercolor card making samples

For this first card, I used watercolor pencils to add the color and a blender pen to blend it. As you can see in the video, this is so very simple and requires no talent at all. I love quality card making tools for this reason because I don’t have to be talented to use them and get good results!

The background of this card was created with the Sunrise Sailing embossing folder. Isn’t it gorgeous?

I created the majority of the next card with stamps included in the Sunrise Sailing stamp set. See that little bit of color I added to the sails between the stripes? To do that, I grabbed a water painter and a bit of Berry Burst ink. Again, no talent needed!

This third card gets into a little bit more technique and potential mess. It still isn’t difficult and it still doesn’t have to be messy. I believe everyone could create this card as well! I used watercolor paper and stamped on it with Stazon ink so that the ink wouldn’t bleed. Then I added color with my water painters as you can see in the video. I just love how it turned out.

After I created the card above, I decided I really liked that design, but I wanted to show how the same card could be created extremely simply just using one color of ink and regular paper with no water coloring, so I created the all blue card shown below. I love the beautiful Flower Garden Foil paper that I used around the edge of this card.
