Try This Dryer Sheet Die Cutting Hack Today!

4 May

As you probably know, I love to share tips and tricks to make your stamping endeavors quicker, easier, or just more enjoyable. Today’s tip is kind of mind blowing in my mind. Have you ever used a dryer sheet when you’re die cutting? If so…you know what I’m talking about. If not, you have to see this to believe it! Let’s talk about today’s dryer sheet die cutting hack!

Watch along here for all the details!

Make Die Cutting Easier With A Dryer Sheet

If you ever get tired of poking out those tiny little pieces from your detailed die cuts, this tip is for you. Next time you’re die cutting, begin by laying a dryer sheet, folded in half, onto your cutting plate. Place the paper and die over top as usual and run it through your machine. When you remove it, carefully peel the die cut away from the dryer sheet and watch as the scrap pieces stay stuck to the dryer sheet!

This works perfectly, but if you’re looking for a related tip, there’s another one I shared a while back about using a brush and foam pad to roll the pieces out of your die cuts.

I hope you find this as helpful as I do! If you try this and it doesn’t work quite like mine, take a look below for a couple of troubleshooting notes.

Troubleshooting

If you have problems, take a look at these ideas below for solving them.

When I remove the die cut, the dryer sheet has been cut through and it’s stuck to the back of the die cut.

This means there was too much thickness in your machine and it cut just a little too far. Try unfolding the dryer sheet and use just a single layer of it.

It didn’t cut all the way through my paper

Add just a little bit of thickness. You can try adding another dryer sheet, or a piece of copy paper.

I hope today’s tip helps! If you’re interested in info on my favorite die cutting machines, take a look here to see the big one and here to see the mini!
