Emboss In Any Color With This Quick and Easy Trick!

7 Nov

Heat embossing is a great way to add a raised, glossy sheen to your projects. It is such a beautiful technique that takes your projects to an entirely new level, and also allows the use of different techniques such as emboss resist. Have you ever wanted to emboss in a color that you didn’t have embossing powder for? If so, today’s trick is for you. I’m going to share how to emboss in any color using products you likely already have in your collection. Let’s get started!

Use this simple trick and materials already in your stamping collection to heat emboss in any color!

What is Heat Embossing

Heat embossing is a technique that allows you to create raised, glossy accents on your cards and other paper craft projects. If you’d like to read more about heat embossing and learn how to do it, visit my post about Heat Embossing on Paper.

One things about embossing is you need to have embossing powder in the colors you want to emboss in. Would you like to know how to emboss in colors you don’t have embossing powder for? Let’s talk about it!

What If I Don’t Have the Embossing Powder Color?

One issue that can arise when heat embossing is not having the color of embossing powder you need. Maybe the color scheme of your project doesn’t fit with the powders in your collection, or maybe you just want to try out a new color! Regardless, I’m going to show you how you can heat emboss in any color with one simple trick I’ve learned.

Materials

First let’s talk about the materials you’ll need to heat emboss in any color.

  • Heat Tool
  • Arrange A Wreath Bundle
  • Blossoms in Bloom Bundle
  • Versamark Ink
  • Clear Embossing Powder
  • Ink of Your Choice (I used Just Jade)
  • Embossing Buddy

*Hint – If you don’t have an embossing buddy, read How To Make A DIY Embossing Buddy.

Next, let’s talk about what to do with these materials!

How to Emboss In Any Ink Color

Begin by rubbing the DIY embossing buddy over the prepared card base or area you are planning to emboss. Choose a stamp to use.

Ink your stamp with Versamark ink. Do not stamp yet. Next, ink the same stamp in the color of your choice (I used Just Jade for the wreath card). Stamp onto the prepared area.

Next, sprinkle clear embossing powder over top. Tap off any extra powder.

Use the heat tool to heat set the stamped area.

There you have it! A beautifully heat embossed card using the color of your choice!

Emboss Multiple Colors Using This Technique

If you’d like to emboss using multiple colors on one stamped image, here’s how. Ink your stamp with versamark, then use the baby wipe technique to ink your stamp with color.  Complete the process as described above.

I also used a die cut overlay to add extra dimension to this card. I love how it turned out!
