#Hugs Card

23 Jul

It’s Stampin’ Up! Annual Convention time! I arrived yesterday in Salt Lake City and this morning is the big kickoff for our 3-day event! This is my first convention, and I’ve already met some wonderful people! They’re really hyping me up for what to expect the next couple of days!

Card swaps are kind of a big deal at Stampin’ Up! demonstrator events. Some people bring hundreds and hundreds of cards to trade with other demonstrators. It’s a great way to get awesome ideas from talented people across the country. I didn’t find time to make hundreds and hundreds, but I did get a few done!

I was trying to come up with a design that didn’t have a lot of layers or anything 3D, so that it would travel well. Imagine stacking up 50 cards that each had a big bow and some rhinestones on the front. Then trying to keep them flat. And taking them on a plane. In a carry-on bag (you have to safeguard the important stuff in case your checked bag gets lost). And hoping they arrive in as good of condition as when they left home. The thought of that kinda got my panties in a bunch. So yeah, I wanted them to stay pretty much flat.

The idea for this #Hugs card just popped into my head one morning. I have no idea why. Normally I have to sit down and make a huge mess of paper and tools to get any ideas in my head. It must have been divine intervention.

Once I got my design together, I cranked out 50 of these last Saturday. It didn’t go quite as fast as I hoped, but at least I got them finished!

I can’t wait to start trading! I will share some of what I collect in a few days, and I’ll share my other card swap design tomorrow. Check back and see!
